Disclaimer: My Day Drinker Cleanse was complimentary of The Juice Bar Dallas, however, all views and opinions are my own.
As you know, I love food! I’ve even deemed myself a certified foodie as a kid. If you take a look at my Instagram, you might drool or have serious FOMO because I’m seen living my best life with all other foodie friends multiple times a week. I also know taking care of my health is important. While I enjoy eating, I also know it’s always great to reset your body. After all, health is wealth.
We’re only 104 days into 2018. How many of you are still rocking those fitness goals? I know, don’t worry, I’ve slacked since January 1st as well. If you’re still meeting your new year’s resolution goals, that’s awesome. However, if you’re like me and have had too many “treat yourself” days, this post is for you! I want to give you some very practical tips which I believe anyone can do to restart their health. I wouldn’t be telling you these things if I hadn’t started doing them myself. So here we go..!
- “Day Drinker Cleanse” from The Juice Bar
I was thrilled to partner with The Juice Bar (insert link) to partake in the day drinker half-day cleanse. Prior to this, I was able to try a few mini bottles of juices: Start Me Up, The Pink Drink, and Skinny Greens). I was amazed at how yummy everything tasted! I was more elated when The Juice Bar opened at Legacy Hall which is fairly close to my home. I literally want to give them all my money! This place definitely has the “juice”! I know people are often scared when they hear the word cleanse, but trust me, you’ll still be able to go about your day if you catch my drift. Each drink has many benefits and each bottle had no more than 6 ingredients. The Juice Bar advises that you drink each juice every 2 hours, consume 8 glasses of water, followed by a raw or lean meal for dinner.
I started with the first drink of the day, “C-Blast” which consists of orange, kale, lemon and mint. “C-blast” is packed with vitamins A, B and C, and carries many attributes such as boosting the immune system, activating digestive enzymes, and soothing the stomach. My immediate thoughts were that the drink was light, refreshing, and I couldn’t taste the kale at all! It also took me less than 10 minutes to drink it, and I was satisfied until the next drink.
Next, was “We Got the Beet” which consisted of Carrot, Green Apple, Celery, Beet and Parsley. “We Got the Beet” ingredients carry benefits of detoxing and cleansing the liver, immune support, and natural diuretics that aid in weight loss. (I need to drink one of these every day!) This drink had a little more spunk due to the beets, so it’ll give you a earthy and slightly bitter taste. If I can be honest, I thought I was going to be starving by drink #2, but I was alert, satisfied again, and it was almost as if my stomach was relieved and saying: thank you for letting me rest today.
“Skinny Greens” was up next. It includes cucumber, green apple, kale, spinach, lemon, ginger and cayenne. “Skinny Greens” will definitely put a pep in your step especially with the kick of Cayenne Pepper and ginger, which aids in the increase of endorphins and also digestion.
The final drink was the “Green Detox” (cucumber, apple, kale, celery, lemon and parsley). It helps to flush out toxins, expel water, and flush the kidneys. Raise your hand if you want to get rid of the toxins from your body! The Green Detox had a mild taste, and, in my opinion, it’s definitely more filling than the others.
I thoroughly enjoyed this cleanse and if you’ve been feeling sluggish, bloated, or lacking energy, this half-day cleanse will help give you the boost you need to get back to reaching those 20slayteen (2018) goals! Head to their website to learn more about the “Day Drinker Cleanse” and what location is closest to you. I highly recommend the cleanse along with the “Start Me Up Juice.” Everything is so fresh!
- Add gym time to your planner + Pack your gym bag the day before
I’ve noticed if I don’t pen gym time to my schedule, I tend to book other things in its place, which is a total bummer. I always feel horrible when I miss my designated take care of health time. Instead, I’ve started to add my gym schedule to my calendar, planner, and phone so I won’t schedule anything else in its time frame.
Additionally, a game changer for me has been packing for the gym the day before. For a month, every time I went to the gym, I would leave something. Never failed! From my waist trainer, membership card, water, headphones (yikes!), change of clothes, and shower shoes. I finally got tired of it and started packing the day before. This alone has saved me so much time, money, and less transition timing for the next activities I have planned throughout the day.
- Eat Veggies with every meal
Sounds easy, right? But with so many options to choose from, sometimes it hurts a little to pick the side of broccoli over the mac n’ cheese or a baked potato. Trust me, it gets easier with time and your body will thank you in the long run. For every meal, I’ve decided to incorporate something green. Since I eat out fairly more than most, this has been vital for me. If you don’t think you can eat a green vegetable with every meal, try to incorporate a salad for lunch or dinner. My favorite green vegetable I’ve loved incorporating in each meal are Brussel sprouts.
