Hutchins BBQ is headed to New York City to showcase their menu at the James Beard House and before they left, I was able to enjoy a sneak peek of what they would offer at the Kick-Off dinner August 30th.
I must say, my love for Hutchins BBQ is unmatched. I fell in love with this small BBQ joint over 14 years ago and have deemed myself a Hutchins BBQ ambassador. People often ask me what’s my favorite restaurant and this place will be always be the first name that spews out of my mouth, followed by everything you should order and why you should come up north.
The James Beard House is a well-known gathering place where the everyday food consumer can experience distinguished meals cooked by some of the country’s leading chefs such as Pit Master, Tracy Hutchins.
The Kick-Off dinner took place at their Frisco location with passed hors d’ oeuvres such as the original Hutchins pork sausage with jalapeño and cheese, turkey on toast and Texas twinkies which is a cream cheese stuffed jalapeño filled with marbled brisket wrapped in bacon. Who could say no to that!
I quickly went to meat paradise that flowed with St. Louis spare ribs, slow-smoked brisket and smoked chicken thighs. I must admit, this was my first time having their chicken and it is definitely a winner! All of our main plates were paired with Hutchins well-known sides such as the broccoli salad and burnt end pinto beans as well as wine from Tacos Y Vino, a specialty cocktail from Treaty Oak and Franconia beer.
I’m beyond thrilled that Hutchins BBQ will be able to showcase everything that I love about this place: good food, authenticity and consistency!
From your loyal customer, I’m cheering for you! Enjoy New York
