Southern Cuisine-
Things I grade restaurants on: service, food quality, cleanliness, restrooms, and the overall vibe.
After hearing so much about this place, my husband and I decided to give it a shot one Sunday afternoon. Ida Claire had me at, “Hello!” Especially, when I saw the vintage airstream trailer and outside garden. #Goals
Service
Our waiter was phenomenal! Not only was he polite, but he was extremely knowledgeable of the menu. He enjoys food as much as me, and gave detailed descriptions of each menu item questioned. I wanted to order everything! Hearing the history of how this restaurant was brought to life was entertaining: a young, avid traveler with a passion for food compiled her favorite dishes and their recipes from her destinations. Thus, Ida Claire was born to share them with the world (or Dallas, TX)!
Food
Since I love breakfast and can eat it anytime, anywhere, I decided to get the Apple Crisp French Toast. The hubby decided to get the Nashville Hot Chicken. Now, I will say, when we received our food it was a bit cold. I, personally, dislike sending food back, but we had to since we were unable to enjoy it. The waiter and supervisor were respectfully understanding about it, and we quickly had hot meals to enjoy! The Apple Crisp French Toast was light, refreshing, and exceptionally tasty. The pomegranate added a nice touch of crunchiness alongside the apple and granola.
The Nashville Hot Chicken came with Pimento Cheese Toast. That combination equated to taste bud perfection! Not to forget, the Cast Iron Okra Salad was amazing!
We couldn’t stop eating it or the macaroni & cheese. That was probably the best macaroni & cheese I’ve had at restaurant in a very long time. You must try it!
Cleanliness/Bathroom
A clean restaurant and a clean restroom; who doesn’t appreciate that? Ida Claire had both!
Vibe
Everything about this restaurant yells adventure, free, spontaneity, and spunk. From the moment we stepped in until the time we left, we didn’t want to leave. Fun Fact: Ida Claire has Victorian high tank toilets in all their restrooms. (I know, I’m a geek. If you don’t know what this is, look it up. It’s from the good ole’ days!) When I first stepped in the restroom stall, I thought, “How the heck am I going to flush the toilet?” LOL!
Stop by and check out this great restaurant this weekend! Tell them that foodfaithfreedom sent you!
