Disclaimer: My meal was complimentary of Lazy Dog Restaurant, however, all views and opinions are my own.
Spring is here and not only am I uber excited to wear cute tank tops and sundresses. Better yet, I’m thrilled about patio dining at amazing restaurants in those tanks and dresses! Lazy Dog was a great place to begin.
My very first time walking in the doors of Lazy Dog, definitely won’t be my last. I was thoroughly impressed that Lazy Dog is a scratch kitchen and bar where everything is made with love. General Manager, Nick Huckabe, echoed that he is extremely proud of the food produced here and I’d have to agree with him. I must also mention how wonderful the hospitality was from the moment I stepped in and well beyond my departure (I’m sure)! Kudos Lazy Dog!
I was joined by a few other faithful foodies, and our hearts were freed as the food made its way out. Our meal was served family style beginning with the street corn wheels. Simply put, it’s their take on the street corn you would get at a small shack with lime, garlic house-made queso blanco, tajin, and cilantro. I think a few of us might’ve played paper rock scissors for the last one on the plate!
The burrata + roasted beet salad was a plate filled with mother earth’s blessing. Creamy burrata cheese, field greens, sweet peaches, and candied walnuts loaded in one beautiful dish and made the perfect combination. The best part, I didn’t even feel like I was missing out on anything and felt good about getting my greens for the day.
Now, I have to pay homage to Lazy Dog for creating a phenomenal veggie burger. Below, you will see two pictures: one of the BBQ Veggie burger and another is the veggie burger bowl for those wanting to kick carbs to the side. The Veggie burger has 22 ingredients and is made from scratch with black beans, ancient grains, veggies, topped with roasted garlic, BBQ sauce, jack cheese, and fried onions. I was oh so impressed! As I’m writing, I’m secretly planning a day next week to grab this again! Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone! If you see me there, don’t judge me. It’s just that good! This is huge for me considering I’m definitely a meat lover, but since it felt like I was actually eating a “meat” patty, I was one happy girl!
Lazy Dog offered spring cocktails to indulge in. My favorite was the Huckleberry Mule. The Huckleberry Mule is made with born and bred American craft vodka, house-made ginger, and huckleberry puree. This was probably one of the best drinks I’ve had in a long time. I always go for the sweet drink, yet this did not disappoint. The ginger was not overpowering either, it was just right! What’s also neat about Lazy Dog is that they have seasonal margaritas, and the watermelon margarita is a sure hit in my book! The watermelon margarita is perfect for the spring weather we’ve encountered this week and screams chill patio vibes. Made with lunazul reposado tequila, and REAL in house pureed watermelon. If you know anything about me. margaritas are my go-to drink of choice everywhere I go.
Happy hour is 3 PM-6 PM Monday through Friday and reverse happy house is from 9 PM- Close Sunday through Thursday, so you can count on seeing me there often. Nothing beats a patio with good food and two happy hours!
Oh, I can’t leave without telling you about dessert! I didn’t feel guilty at all eating the lemon cake. It’s Gluten-sensitive, so that counts for something right? This beauty is made with lemon buttercream, almond flour vanilla cake, huckleberry, lemon curd, and whipped cream. It was simply divine with the perfect tang!
Enjoy some more pictures and head to Lazy Dog to enjoy their Spring Menu! You never know, you might just see me there! Take that back; You WILL see me there!
