Early October 2017 I lost my job. October 2nd to be exact.
BUT…
I’m sure my plans tickled God. Ya’ll know he has a sense of humor! When life happens, I find myself giving him a side eye sometimes! This was one of those times. Nevertheless, HIS PLAN will always be a thousand times better. One of my favorite scriptures, Romans 8:28 (NIV) says, “and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Praying for my comeback story to be something like this: all bills paid on time, all debt depleted, and not to miss a single beat in doing so! But while I’m still waiting on an answer, I wanted to share a few quick tips on how to maintain faith while dealing with job loss.
1. Don’t give up on yourself!
Y’all know I’m all about being transparent. My first month went by slowly. I laid in bed, didn’t work out, pigged out, and failed to put on any real clothes all day! Forget side eyeing Him; I had to check my own self! “Kim, Don’t give up on YOU! Get out of the house, kill it in the gym, and feed your intellect with books!” I’m back on it, now!
2. Know your worth!
I was very grateful to have a job with generous pay and it allowed me to work from home. As a result, it’s been challenging not to forget those luxuries in my current job search. With job hunting you have to kiss some frogs before you get to the prince! Clearly, I’ve received some whack job inquires. I mean, I’ve wanted to hang up on some calls because it’s not worth my time. To be honest, it’s simply not worth my expensive, still not paid off bachelor’s degree! The dream is free, but the hustle cost.
3. Don’t settle
Many have told me, “Well, it’s better to have a job than nothing at all.” Honestly, I can’t holy dance agree with that! Now, you should work. Scripture tells us in 2 Thessalonians 3:10, “… the one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.” But I don’t believe one should settle for a mediocre job just to shout EMPLOYED! All the while unhappy, underpaid, and un-everything else! Lol!!
4. Stay busy!
An entire month I laid, slept, scrolled, and munched! Boring bum. I realized the benefit of maintaining a schedule and being occupied. Instead of wasting the day away, I get up early, head to the gym, and work on things I’m passionate about:blogging, reading, journaling. Oh, things that I need to do, apply for an insane amount of jobs per day, gets done too!
I hope these few points encourage you through a season of job loss and helps keep you in the groove of life. Everyday won’t be peachy, but make your days and the hours worth it! If you know a great company that’s hiring, let ya girl know! When you’re praying, send some prayers up for a sis! God’s timing is forever perfect.

Been fighting my way back since April. I have done what is needed to make ends meet. I agree that if you love what you do then you never work a single day of your life. I recently caught myself online applying for jobs and crying as I submitted my resumes. I know that is not the path God wants me to take anymore. My God will supply all me needs and I need not worry about tomorrow. God Bless you Kimberly, meeting you at our previous place of employment was the best part of working there.

Marcie!
You’re too sweet! Thank you so much for the kind words and I stand in agreement with you to do whatever God has placed in your heart. Miss ya!
