Have you ever thought about what would’ve, should’ve, could’ve happened had you made a different choice or agreed to an opportunity?
Ugh! I know! Thinking about the what-ifs will literally drive you insane in the membrane! I should have…?
Why didn’t I…?I often sit down and think about all the opportunities I missed and what life could’ve been if I’d made better, smarter, wiser decisions. It is at that moment, I realize I’m exactly where I need to be at this moment. Rather than ponder on missed opportunities, which can be a complete confidence killer, I choose to move forward.
Allow me to tell you how Jesus can check you in about 30 seconds flat!
Luke 9:62 says: Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”
What? Jesus! Come through!
Let me get my life together and start walking forward!
I realized when I dwelled on all the should’ve, could’ve, would’ve moments of life, I was doing myself a disservice because I can never, EVER go back and grab those moments: never will I have a stereotypical, 21-year-old college experience, I can never say no to the relationship that caused a broken heart, nor can I go back to mend the friendship that took a turn for the worse. But for every missed opportunity, there is growth. There are also phenomenal moments waiting to transpire in my life.
I put myself through a ton of things I know I wouldn’t have gone through, (heartbreak, poor decisions, unnecessary trials) if I had full control of my life. The blessing is in the realization. This is the beauty of learning: making decisions, failing, learning, growing.
Making decisions scares me. No one wants to make the wrong one! However, it is inevitable. A decision must be made for every choice. Every day He wakes me up, I will have to decide upon something. Whether it be to chase my dreams or talk about them, I can look back and wonder or press forward in this beautiful journey called life.
Making decisions is a gift. Although I’m not perfect, I’m learning and growing daily in my decision-making processes.
Cheers to Making Beautiful Decisions!
