I had the opportunity to get a sneak peek of We Ate Well Food Tours before it’s launch March 23rd. Since then, I’ve already gone on another tour! We Ate Well McKinney Food Tours is ready to welcome everyone who likes to taste and see McKinney in a unique way.
I couldn’t wait to go back after the first tour! Hopefully, you plan on grabbing a few tickets so you can experience it for yourself!
While you’re at it, after you read this post, I shared my experience on my Instagram Highlights titled “We Ate Well.” Hint: Mother’s Day is coming up!
Here are the top 3 things I learned:
- History isn’t boring!
Tricia Scruggs, owner of weatewell food tours, is well versed in the rich history of Downtown McKinney. She will not boggle you down with a dry history lesson! Scruggs shares the most pivotal points that will leave you inspired by each building and street that you tread upon during the tour. Scruggs often says, “You will encounter a sprinkle of culture, and dash of history.” I personally enjoyed the integration of history at each stop. While there are many historical events shared, my favorite historical moment was when we stopped by the former law office of James W. Throckmorton. It was captivating to hear how he stood up for civil rights during a time it was frowned upon. His statue stands beside the McKinney Performing Arts Center today with the inscription, “A Tennessean by birth, a Texan by adoption.”
- Cadillac Pizza Pub’s most popular item is not pizza!
Shocking, right? Although the pizza is not to be missed, surprisingly, Cadillac Pizza’s most popular item is the Sedona Salad. A colorful presentation of bell peppers, corn, bacon, avocado, tortilla chips, cheddar, romaine, buttermilk ranch, and barbeque drizzle is sure to pluck those heart strings and tickle your taste buds! After writing this, I’m actually going to go grab one tomorrow. (For real!) On the tour we sampled the “Smokey Pie” which is an angelic combination of local smoked brisket, bacon, white onion, mozzarella, cheddar, and sweet Texas barbeque sauce on an alfredo base wood-fired pizza.
- Downtown McKinney is hopping!
Have you noticed amphibians in front of some of your favorite shops while exploring downtown? No worries! I didn’t realize it either until it was pointed out during the tour. These adorable statues were initiated by store owners to show visitors McKinney Main Street is always hopping! (Get it?!) Each frog has a name and story. Some are even artistically painted to reflect one’s character.
Surely, I’ve spiked your interest by now! Head to www.weatewellfoodtours.com to book your tour. You will visit 7 places and indulge in food and beverages that will truly make your heart skip a beat! We Ate Well food tours is mapped perfectly beginning at Patina Green to devour the best sandwich in Texas by the Food Network, trickled with stops at landmarks, and ending the day at the perfect store which is filled with many of my Pinterest dreams, Ettiene Market.
